VISION

To become a leading European-wide (and beyond) community driving groundbreaking research, innovation, and collaboration in advancing the human motor system and human behaviour, improving quality of life through practical, accessible, and impactful solutions tailored to individual needs.

CHALLENGES

Many challenges exist, causing a significant economic burden to modern society:

Neuromuscular disorders: musculoskeletal disorders and diseases related either to ageing or bad posture are among the most common reasons for absenteeism from work

Social shielding: The effects of unhealthy lifestyles (lack of activity, poor diet or hindered well-being) and various environmental impacts are poorly quantified on an individual level and are not perceived as personal problems, hindering individual accountability.

Improving social services: Preventive medicine and rehabilitation could be more precise, personalized, and effective when considering each individual’s specific neural codes.

Human-centric aspect of the 5.0 model and labour shortage: There is a clear need to empower workers at all levels in any working environment and scenarios, both individuals and teams, through breakthrough augmentation technologies embodying the next stage in human-machine interactions while taking into account SSH aspects such as ergonomics, user behaviour and experience, comfort, trust, feeling of safety and liability, age, and gender.

Lack of longitudinal quantification of human behaviour: most of the existing studies are cross-sectional, collecting data over a short period, hindering the prevention of diseases or disorders and the efficiency of their treatments.

MISSION

To bridge the gap between research, innovation, industry, and end-users in the field of human motor systems and human behaviour, including addressing neuro-muscular disorders, life-/working-style or ageing.

To accelerate the development and adoption of cutting-edge solutions for monitoring, rehabilitation, prosthetics, neuromodulation, cognition, behaviour and beyond.

To establish a dynamic platform for knowledge dissemination, networking, and collaboration across diverse sectors, including clinical, technological, and societal stakeholders.

To empower end-users by delivering practical, accessible, and impactful solutions tailored to their needs, addressing changes in the motor system and human behaviour changes caused by impairments, environment, nutrition, exercise, work environment or aging.
